/First at Newcastle HE broadcasting authoritits of Australia recently made ‘an announcement to the effect that. the first Australian ‘relay station. was to be established \at Newcastle,.and that threequarters of a million are to be spent in this direction within the next three years. -Neweastle/has been #selected because of:many factors; the district contains the greatest aggregation of population outside the metropolis, and the ‘listeners of Newcastle have -been complaining of the fading which they suffer as well as local electrical, interference. , ‘The station will be even greater in power than stations 2FC or 8L0._ ft is stated that 100 per cent. modulation will be preferred, and thus good crystal reception will be given up to 25 or 30 miles. Thns reception will now ‘be available to many who cannot afford expensive, sets. » Pes!
