HE service in St. Matthew’s Church _ will be broadcast on Sunday evening. Canon ©. H: Grant Cowen will ‘be the preacher, A studio concert: will fellow. The contributing local artists will be Miss Ivy Taylor, Mr. A. L. McPherson, and Mr. eg. Richards. Special recordings will comprise orechestral, pianoforte, organ, and chorus numbers. ON Tuesday evening Miss Phyllis Gribben, who has returned to Auckland fora short holiday, will again be heard "on the air," her contralto solos including "Ouvre tes yeux bleus’": (Massenet) and "The Inquirer" (Schubert). Mr. Tom Moffitt (tenor) will be heard in "Then You’ll Remember Me," and "Yes, Let Me Like a. Soldier Fall.’ Two = artists making their initial appearance before the "mike" will be the accontplished AuckJand pianiste, Miss Theo Halpin, whose items include "Polonaise in B Flat" (Chopin), and Miss Raie Robinson, elocutioniste, well known in teaching circles in Auckland. Mr. Frank Sutherland’s resonant bass-baritone voice will be heard to advantage in "Mephistopheles’ Serenade" (Faust) and "Lullaby" .(Mignon). The Studio Trio will be heard in instrumental selections, while Mr. R. W. Strong will continue his interesting presentation of Verdi’s opera "La Traviata’ (second instalment). (QUTSTANDING on Wednesday evening’s programme will be the first appearance before the microphone of the Leys Institute Orchestra. This combination coniprises about seventy instrumentalists, mostly strings, and includes a large number of juvenile performers who are taking ‘a wonderful interest in their work, and will no doubt prove a source of talent from which our bigger orchestras will, later on, draw to advantage.

the Dance" (Drummond), "If I Were" (Richards), "When Shadows Gather" (Hewitt), and "I Wish to Tune My Quivering Lyre" (Watson). Also appearing will be the Auckland Comedy Players in two short comedy sketches, "They Write a Play’ and "Wednesday or Friday." ‘The Studio Orchestra will be heard in a number of popular selections, and the programme will continue until 11 p.m. with dance music. — 2
