This simple sreeaution will do much to prevent, the sdider on the iron from running or dropping off when it has reaehed a molten state, and, in fact, if the two. points deseribed -above are earefully attended to in practice, the amateur will find that he will he able to reduce the number of repeated re-tinnings af his soldering-iron yery considerably, ©
