UNDAY evening’s service in the Baptist Tabernacle will be broadcast. The Rey. Joseph Kemp will be preaching, and Mr. Arthur Wilson will be at the organ. A studio concert will follow, the vocalists being Miss M. Atkinson (soprano), and Mr. Frank Sutherland (bass). A number of selected gramaphone items, electrically reproduced. will be presented. ON Tuesday evening, operatic excerpts from Gounod’s great opera, "Faust," will include the famous garden scene, The cast will include Miss Marjorie Fair, Madame Irene Ainsley, Mr. Arthur Ripley and Mr. de Montalk; the whole production being under the direction of Madame Irene Ainsley. On the instrumental side of the programme the Studio Trio will contribute selections, including the "Prize Song," from the "Meistersingers" (Wagner-Wilhelmj), while Mr. Bric Waters will be heard in a pianoforte solo, "Hskimo Shivers" (Mayerl). Orchestral music will be relayed from the Majestic Theatre. Mr. A. B. Chappell, while continuing his talk this evening, will speak on "The Maori-His Notable Customs." 4 Beto major portion of the vocal programme on Wednesday evening will be rendered by Madame Mary Towsey’s Quartet, their programme including a variety of solos, duets and quartettes. Mrs. Culford Bell will make a welcome reappearance before the microphone in elocutionary items, including the "House by the Side of the Road," and two French-Canadian poems, ‘"Leetle Bateese," and "The Wreck of the Julie Plante." Those old favourites, the Asquiths, will again be heard from 1YA in one of their popular 30 minutes’ dtawing-room entertainments, while pianoforte solos will be played by Mr. OGyril Towsey. These will include Chopin’s "Funeral March." ‘The last instalment of Verdi’s great opera "Rigoletto" will be presented this evening, the explanatory notes and libretto being performed by Mr. Karl Atkinson. -_ --- —
wwe OO ON ON DEED I ES Ee SSO "THURSDAY will mark the presentation of a novelty evening entitled "A Night of Convivialities." We are rather in the dark as to the form of entertuinment to be provided, but as a number of well-known and popular artists of 1YA will Ls contributing, we may expect a number of novel and entertaining surprises. The programme will conelude at 11 p.m. with dance selections. Pus Clarion Quartet, in contributing to Friday evening’s programme, will render 2 number of solos, duets, and quartets, including "In the Rain" (Parks), "Time to Go" (Sanderson), and "Angels Guard Thee" (Godard). Mr. Arthur E. Wilson will present two short organ recitals, the first being given over to "The Works of the Old Masters," and the second dealing with the "Twentieth Century Composers." Mr. Wilson will be assisted by Mrs. J. Litherland, soprano. The Studio Trio will be heard in instrumental selections, while Mr. Eric Waters will play a bracket of pianoforte solos, (a) "Tristesse de Colombine" (Chutte), (b) "Valse in A Flat Major," composed by the player.
HB variety programme for Saturday evening will include the wellknown Bohemian Duo, Ingall’s Hawaiian Orchestra and the inimitable "Hebrew Two.’ Making her first appearance at 1YA will be Miss Thelma James in popular soprano solos. Messrs. Tom Harris and Jack Mackle will be heard in a dramatic recital from Shakespeare’s "Merchant of Venice," while the Studio Orchestra will provide a number of popular orchestral selections. The programme will conclude at 11 p.m. with dance music.
