No Relay This Time

Negaruawahia Maori Entertainment A VERY interesting Maori celebration is to take place at Ngaruawahia on Saturday, March 16, but unfortunately it has not been possible to arrange for the broadcasting of it. Every effort was made by 1YA to that end, but the opposition to broadcasting was too strong. This is to be regretted, not only because radio listeners missed the opportunity of hearing a unique entertainment but because such a broadcast was in the interests of the Maoris themselves. Listeners in to 2YA have pleasant recollections of the fine Maori entertaiiiment which was relayed from Otaki and of the historic Maori radio pageant perfor med by a party from the Wanganui district. It is hoped that on a future occasion it will be possible to carry out a relay from Ngaruawahia.
