Radio Up-to-Date
"THE Adelaide Steamship Company’s new motor-ship Manunda is to be fitted with the most up-to-date wireless equipment on any vessel in the Australian trade. It consists of an LC.W. valve transmitter, which was made by Amalgamated Wireless, Limited, and will be installed in Great Britain. The transmitter has a power of 1% kilowatts, and covers a wave band of 580 to 800 metres. A similar installation on an oversea vessel permitted constant communication with Sydney from the time the vessel left Sydney until she berthed at London. A commercial receiver, with a range of 220 metres to 26,000 metres, is also a part of the equipment. A broadcast receiver is being provided, to be worked in conjunction with a band repeater, and it will be possible to have music all over the ship, either from a. broadcasting station or the ship’s orchestra. --
