The Decorative Buckle
‘HIS season, buckles are all-import-ant accessories, for, with the revival of the waistline, belts and sashes have returned to favour. The belts, which are indispensable to the sports clothes of the day, demand a buckle fastening, and this idea has been adopted with much success in the case of afternoon and evening gowns cut with a natural waistline. Possessors of old paste buckles, which were hidden away when these trinkets went out of fashion, can now bring their treasures to light again, and allow them to sparkle on an evening gown of black ring velvet or moire in some strong colour. When the buckles are valuable and of good design, the frock needs no other trimming, and the effect obtained is most distinguished. Frail tulle or chiffon picture dresses have tailored belts dt the natural waist, and the necessary touch of brightness is given by the erystal fastenings. Elaborate evening shoes with crossed ankle straps are finished with large
paste buckles at the instep, and black satin "Court" shoes may again bear crystal or paste ornaments on _ the vamp, or at one side. It is no longer sufficient to wear the buckle bought with the hat or gown, for the wise woman has a_ series of these accessories, and varies them according to the mood of the moment.
