Granny's Cake.
(SREAM 4 cupful of butter with 1 cup of granulated sugar. Add 1 egg... Mix with 14 cupfuls of flour, 1 teaspoonful. of mixed spice, Stir 1 teak spoonful of soda into a cupful of apple sauce, then alternately add a little of the sauce and a little of the flour to the butter-sugar-egg mixture, until all is well blended. Beat thoroughly. (If desired 4 cupful of chopped raisins or nuts may be added.) Pour into a square, well-greased tin, and bake in a moderately hot oven, The cake may be cut into squares and stored in a tin,
