Tom Heeney
Reception Broadcast by 1YA FROM a broadcasting point of view the reception given to ‘Tom Heeney on his arrival at Auckland was splendidly handled by 1YA. The Auckland Harbour Board gave every assistanee to 1YA. A microphone was installed on one of the cranes, from which coign of vantage the scene was well described by Mr. Hutter, 1YA’s boxing announcer and a friend of Tom Heeney. On the arrival of the Aorangi one of the Harbour’ Board’s electricians installed a microphone on the deck, and from there Tom Heeney spoke to the people of New Zealand.
