| -ymens's Military Band will supply the instrumental music for Monday evening, and a programme of the popular type has been arranged. The eyening’s entertainment will commence with Sousa’s rousing "Stars and Stripes for Ever." Other items will be "The

Smithy in the Woods," "Lurkish Patrol," "The Anvil Chorus" (from "Il Trovatore," "Nights of Gladness," "The Jolly Coppersmith," "Tales of Long Ago,’ and "Battle of Magenta." Some yery popular vocal artists will supplement the band items. These artists will be Miss Frances Hamerton, Miss Belle Renaut, Mr. Thorpe Cherry, aud Mr. I. R. Hawker, while Mrs. J. 8. Temple, elocutionist, will make a welcome reappearance, HERE will be considerable yariety. in Wednesday evenings programme, the miscellaneous nature of which will please all, The vocal portion of the programme will be supplied by Mr. A. G. Thompson's party, assisted by Mr, A. H. Todd, elocutionist. The instrumental items will be contributed by the Bohemian Quintet, Mr, Harold Back (‘cello}, Mr. C. S. Hansen (BB flat bass), and Mr. Angus Macintosh (bagpines). Well selected are the songs to be sung by the members of the Dulcet Quartet. Mr, A. G. Thompson will sing "The Windmill" and "I Gave You Roses." One of Mr. T. G. Rogers’s items will be "The Trumpeter," and 2% fine rendition can be anticipated. Miss Nellie Lowe will sing "Ma Curly Headed Babby," "Hindoo Song," and "Two Roses." Miss Hilda Hutt’s items will be "The Lass with the Delicate Air" and "Sleep and the Roses." A duet and two quartets will also be sung, the latter being "Comrades in Arms" and "At Eventide." The bagpipe items which Myr. Mr. H. Nevill-Smith, who is on the way to the United States to take up important work in the musical profession, has been engaged to sing at 8YA on Thursday, July 12, and Friday, July 3, and at 2YA on Monday, July 16. Mr. Nevill-Smith is well-known in Christchurch. During the three years he has been in Sydney he has given mauy vocal-recitals, singing in three languages, He has also broadcast on many occasions from both 2BL and 2NC. He has given recituls at Govern-. ment House, and at the Royal Colonial Tustitute, He was adjudicator for the Brisbane Musical Competitions in 1927, and also at Bundaberg, Queensland. Mr. Nevill-Smith is a very successful teacher in Srdney, and several of his pupils now have broadcasting contracts. Apart from his musical gifts, Mr. Nevill-Smith is aiso an excellent watercolour artist. His work has been accepted by the Royal Art Society of New. South Wales; and by the Australian Art Society. His pictures have been hung at Government House, New Caledonia, and others are in the possession of Dame Clara Butt, Dr. Frank B. Miller, of New York, and other notable personages,
