AUSTRALIAN LISTENERS
OVER A QUARTER OF A MILLION. HERE are now 268.340 broadcast listeners’ Hicenses issued in Australia. According to the latest figures supplied by the Postmaster-General’s Department, Victoria is still in ‘the ascendaney and has more wireless reeeiving licenses than the whole of the other States of the Commonwealth torether. The following were the respective numbers of licenses in force in the States of Australia at the end of March :- Victoria sce eeeeeeeeee 186,481 Rest of Australia .... 326.859 New South Wales ...... 75,869 Queensland eeecsccoee 24,920 South Australia ...... 19,452 West Australia sessee 3,780 PASIMANIA — ne cece wees 2,838 The Victorian total is estimated to be proportionately the world's record, being equal to approximately 78 licences to every one thousand of the population.
