A SONNET
I cannot love my Lady as I would; She is past loving lovable-she tries — With childish hands the portals | of surprise, dnd finds by faith those secrets understood. She wears the double crown of womanhood ; Maternal thoughts make bright her maiden eye Wisdom would not be pure were she not wise, Nor gooduess beautiful were she
not good.
