"The Voice of the Bells" is heard far and near. A storm creeps up-theu breaks with sudden fury. The monks in haste leave the monastery to succour the victims of the storm, which -apidly increases in intensity. "The Voice of the Bells" is heard in warning-"Try Not the Pass." The wind howls and the snow eddies around the monks as they beat their way through the storm, battling with the element: At last they reach the poor, half-frozen wayfarer"Joxcelsior.* They lift the sufferer upon their shoulders and prepare to carry him to a safe haven. The wind increases-the storm becomes more terrific in its intensity and snowdrifts cover the path. Alas! the monks fear that they and their burden are lost. They pause and pray for guidance. They listen! Their prayer is answered-they hear again in the distance "The Voice of the Bells.
