3LO EXTENSIONS
CONDEMNED. Following the application by 8LO for broadcasting licenses for West Australia, South Australia and ‘asmawa. many hundreds of letters have been received from listeners in the westerr State approving of the policy of extension launched by 810. Mr. C. A. Bolton, of Airdale, via Busselton, writes to 8L0 as follows :- "Some time ago 6WF briéfly announced that 3L0 had applied to erect an ‘A’ station in W.A., but the application had heen refused. Why? We over here cannot understand the action of the Postmaster in his refusal. Another ‘A’ station is badly needed. We are not dissatisfied with the programines from our local station, 6WI', in fact the yreat feature of that station lately has heen the extraordinary improvement in the programmes, but. variety is the essence of radio entertainment, and it is more variety we need. GOVERNMERT VETO "Another big facter is that in terms of radio W.A, means distance-and distance means bigger and more expensive sets which not eyeryone can afford. We derive hours of pleasure listening to our local, but I have yet to meet the wireless enthusiast who does not want to listen to more than one station, especially stations like 8L0, who have greater opportunities of putting on variety programmes than has our locai in Perth."
