3YA ATTRACTIONS

| Mr. It. A. Sargent, who is making a name for himself as an entertainer, will be heard again ‘on Saturday night | in some of his welcome items. Mr. Sargent is a member of the wellknown firm of opticians with which his name is associated. Following on the church broad. cast on Sunday, December 4, the advanced pupils of Mr, Marston Bate will give a concert in 3¥A studio. The entertainment will be unique, in that every perform: er will be a ’celloist. The items will) include a septet, a sextet, a quintet, and trios. A feature of Thursday evening’s concert at 8YA will be the relay from the Choral Hall of portion of the Male Voice Choir's concert. ‘The Male Voice Choir is one of the finest vocal combinations in Christchurch. Miss Maiona Juriss, a popular 38YA elocutionist, and a prize tvinner at competitions, is a pupil of Miss Lucy Cowan, She recently passed the practical section of her A.T.C.I,. Miss

Juriss will be heard on ‘Thursday evening. The fortnightly organ recital will be given on Friday night, when Mr. Robert Lake will be playing. The pupils of Miss Lucy .Cowan, who appears at 3YA on Friday in elocutionary items, were very sliccessiul in the recent Trinity College examinations conducted in Christchurch by Mr. Alexander Watson, Out of fourteen who passed, thirteen were pupils of Miss Cowan. Miss Nancy Bowden, a fine mezzocontralto singer, who has not been heard from 8YA for some time, will make a welcome reappearance on Friay. Mrs. Bingham Puddey, a singer from the English Midlands, whose delightful mezzo-contralto voice has previously pleased isteners, will sing again on Monday. A pppular baritone, Mr. Tori Thomas, a competitions winner, will siug at 8YA on Monday. Mr, Jock Darragh, Christchurch eloCutionist, will dispense humour at 3YA on Monday. The Christchurch Broadcasting Trio will present next week fur ther fine programmes of excellent music.. Selos will be played by the members of the trio-Miss Irene Morris (violin), Miss Aileen Warren (piano), and Mr. Harold Beck (violin). The children of the Waimairi Scliool will be helping Chuckle and Chook on Thursday evening, and on Friday at the children’s session Boy Scouts will. be there to do a ‘‘good turn" with war cries, etc. A splendid evening’s enjoyment is promised on ‘‘hursday, when the members of the Christchurch Broadcasting Vocal Quartet will contribute their share of the programme. Misses Hamerton and Renaut, Messrs. Summer and Williams, have chosen songs which -are admirably suited to their voices. A lecture on Music by Mr. Raynor White, F.U.C.M., the well-known organist of ‘Trinity Congregational Church, Will be given on ‘Thursday evening.
