3LO, MELBOURNE, TO ENTERTAIN INGUAND. The management of broadcast station 31,0, Melbourne, has made an applica. tion to the Amalgamated Wireless (A’sia) I,jtd, for the use of the Beam station for broadcasting to England from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. one morning, so that the programme will be ‘received in England at night, when it will be generally heard. Small additionak equipment is necessary, and when this is carried out the station will be equivae lent to a broadcasting station of a million watts owing to the concentrated energy of the beam, and this should ensure more satisfactory transmission than anything previously attempted it atly part of the world. ‘This will be the first time that the Beam has eyer been used for broadcasting purposes.
