SOME SUGGESTIONS

Sir,-I would Itke to inerease by one the number of letters received by you i appreciation of ‘The Record." I consider it a splendid paper and haye read each issue so far with keen interest and look forward to receiving my next copy. If the present standard is maintained I should imagine that every listener will become a subseriber. Most radio fans seek to log stations that are ‘‘off the beaten track,’? and 1 suggest that you invite reports of listeners receiving distant stations and Yeserve a corner each eek for the purpose of publishing these reports. Yhis corner would, I think, receive its share of attention, Yhe quality of the programmes lately is on the improve, but the Broadcasting Company have a long way to eo yet in this direction. I think more variety and the introduction of more humour worfd be welcomed by most of us. The first portion of *e programme from 2YA on both the 6th and 15th inst. was enjoyed by all who I have mentioned the matter to. May I advance a few suggestions in regard to other matters? (1) Could not the gap hetween the close of the news session and the commencement of the evening session be filled in in some manner? If one settles down for the evening at the comumencement of the news session this "break" in the programme is unwelcome, and, of course, all stations are silent at this time, (2) A Sunday afternoon session would

find favour with listeners equally with weekday sessions, and I caunot wnderstand why Sunday should be treated ony differently in this respect, (5) Am glad to note children’s sessious will soon be held nightly from each station; catering for the children Will please everyone, Six o’clack, too, is a good time to commenre The average present children’s hour wants a lot of "gingering up.’ It does not seem to have enouvh fife in it somehow, though the session from 3YA on the 22nd inst. left little to be desired (4) Am pleased to learn that Q¥A are installing a short-wave receivine set with the view of treating listeners to items Droadcast from Tondon, Howe.

ever, it is mot necessary for the comnany to wait for this station to onen at the end of the year. Whi not make a start now by rebroadcastine PCT] ONAPF, ete.? Am sure this innovation would prove of creat Interest.-Yours,

ete,

G.C.
