University College.
The Auckland University College Council met recently, the chairman, the Hon. George Fowlds, presiding. There were also present :—Dr. T. W. Leys, Professors A. P. W. Thomas, H. W. Segar, and C. W. Egerton, Messrs. Kenneth Mackenzie and W. J. Holdsworth.
The report of the committee that had recently visited Wellington in connection with the proposed arts, building was discussed in committee. It was decided that formal application be t made to the Minister for Education for £20,000 as the first instalment of a grant of £IOO,OOO. The matter of a quantity survey for the building was referred to the chairman with authority to invite tenders for that work if thought advisable. The architects for the building, Messrs.
