Ideal Homes Competition.

Prize of £SOO Won by a New Zealander. We are able to publish the winning design, offered by the Daily Mail, London, for one section of their Ideal Homes Competition held late last year. It seems that when the Housing question was so much discussed, the Daily Mail got up this competition with a view to getting something good, and of service to those contemplating housing schemes. No

housing scheme ought to be undertaken without the services of a qualified Town-planner and house designer, hut the designs published by the Daily Mail (for which there were 3000 entries) will give many suggestions to prospective home builders. It is very gratifying to note that a prize of £SOO offered for one section of the competition, viz.;—the Northern Industrial Area, was won by a New Zealander, Mr. H. L. Massey, of Auckland. The total annual output of the Canadian pulp and paper industry exceeds in value £17,000,000.
