Our 54th Competition
We offer a prize of £1 Is. Od. for the design adjudged to be the best for A Soldier’s Club in accordance with the following conditions : —lt is to be erected on the Domain of a prosperous Provincial town. Cost notan item of importance. General accomodation to be as follows :—General lounge hall about 1000 super feet, billiard room reading and writing room, cafe and board room each about 600 super feet. Ample sanitary conveniences including bath rooms etc., for men. Caretaker’s rooms (4) kitchen of same being situated so as to be convenient to cafe. The building to be constructed generally of fire-resisting materials. Good lighting and ventilation and heating to be carefully considered. The style of architecture to be Neo-Greek. Drawings to be to scale of 1/8-ins to one foot. Sufficient plans, elevations and sections to explain the design. Detail of front entrance to 4-in scale. Drawings to be indian ink and monotint shading. Perspective optional. Messre Vautier & Anderson, Architects, of Hamilton, have kindly set this subject. Designs must be sent in, in black and white under a nom-de-plume, addressed to Progress, 8 Parish Street, Wellington, and marked clearly “ Pifty-fofirth Prize Competition ” on outside with a covering letter giving competitor’s name, and address of employer. Designs to be sent in by June 21st, 1917.
