New Patent Attachment for Reinforced Concrete Construction
The above patent embraces a form of wire clip looking over the main truss reinforcements in the form of a double loop, being extended beyond the bars as two smaller loops at right angles through
vhich is passed the shear member which is composed of either flat or partially flattened round steel members. These shear members are introduced through the small dia. wire loops the flat side to the main members and with a key turned so as to bring the wire loop into tension giving the shear members a rigid grip on to the main members.
This system does away with all blacksmith work either in splitting or hooking the shear members and does away with all wiring on as heretofore, is much quicker in the manipulation and insures the proper and rigid placement of all reinforcing members. The photograph shows a column fixed with these attachments. The various members being firmly held in place and the whole column being perfectly rigid in itself. This system is a very clever and ingenious invention and is being used in the construction of the reinforcements of the New Mangere and Panmure Bridges, also two smaller at Karaka and three new concrete buildings in Auckland.
