What is Being Done? Those New Zealanders who are sufficiently wide awake to the advantages and benefits of Town Planning, have recently had a feast of lantern slides and information given them by Messrs. Davidge & Reade who have just passed through this Dominion on a mission to spread the Town Planning movement from the Garden Cities & Town Planning .Association of England. It is not to be expected that such a mission would attract enormous crowds,, but those who went to hear the lectures with their minds open, cannot have failed to get a greater insight into this modern movement for the betterment of the people. Already Auckland has its Town Planning Association and has had a few. public meetings with the object of protecting the natural beauties of its environment, some of which are being rapidly demolished for road material, i.e., the volcanic cones' surrounding the city. The Wellington Elector’s Association have made Town Planning one of their main planks, and it is; hoped that the question of forcing a Bill through' Parliament will not be allowed to rest, now that public interest has been aroused. We were able to get a series of photographs from the Lecturers showing numerous cities on the Continent that have developed the Town Planning and Garden City idea, and shall publish them from time to time so that our readers.can be kept in touch with what is being done elsewhere.
