Publisher’s Announcements OUR JULY ISSUE This issue will be a Special Auckland Building issue, and will contain illustrations of recently-completed buildings, and some projected work, on the line of our April issue in which the building progress of Otago and Southland was represented. Our 23rd Competition for Architectural Students We offer two prizes, viz., £1 Is. as first prize and 10s. Gd. as second prize, to the two designs adjudged to be the best for a SIDEBOARD. The only conditions attached to this competition are that the sideboard must not exceed seven feet in length, and that it must be designed with a view to improving upon the furniture one generally secs. The sideboard belonging to the kind commonly known as “Art Furniture” must not be taken as a type to be followed. Drawings to be supplied which will fully illustrate the design, drawn to a scale of one inch to the foot, with quarter full size details of parts. A short description of the wood, construction, and treatment to accompany the design. Mr. Wm. Page, of Wellington, has kindly consented to adjudicate in this competition. Designs must be sent in, finished as above, under a nom-de-plume, addressed to Progress, 10 Willis Street, Wellington, and marked clearly “Twenty-third Prize Conpetition” on outside, with a covering letter giving competitor's name and address. Designs to be in by June 21st. The Editor reserves the right of publishing any or all the designs submitted, and while every care will be taken of drawings, no responsibility is accepted should any loss or damage be sustained. Those desiring their designs returned must send postage to cover cost of same.
