Honours for the Inventor.

During the formal opening of the building of the United Engineering Society of America in April last, the John Fritz Gold Medal was presented to Alexander Graham Bell for the invention and introduction of the telephone. This is the third medal of the kind awarded. The first was given to Lord Kelvin for his work in cable laying, and the second to George Westinghouse for perfecting the air brake.
