THE SISTINE CHOIR SOLOISTS Commenting on the Sistine Choir Soloists’ appearance in Sydney the Sydney Daily News critic? wrote*. —“Musiclovers were given a rare treat on Saturday night, when ten soloists of the Sistine Choir began a season of six nights, under the direction of Messrs. Thomas Quinlan and E. J. and Dan Carroll.' Whether individually or in ensemble numbers their singing was a sheer delight. Such beautiful vocal quality, and delicate nuances must have come as a revelation to the big audience that applauded rapturously. From the singing 'of the opening chorus Greeting to Australia,’ a beautifully melodious, richly harmonised composition, to the sparkling' ‘ Funicoli, Funicola,’ which was the final number on the programme, demonstrations of enthusiasm followed. As illustrating the enthusiasm evoked by the Sistine Soloists at the close of the concert the curtain was raised again and again, but the audience remained clamouring for. one more number, which was graciously given. Members of local musical organisations should not miss this unique opportunity of hearing such wonderful voices and effects in part kinging.” The New Zealand tour opened last Thursday in Auckland with much success. !
