DIOCESE OF AUCKLAND

(By telegraph, from our own correspondent.) May 24. Rev. Brother Clement, who for the past six years has been Superior of the Sacred Heart College, Auckland, has been promoted to the position of Provincial of the Marist Brothers in Australasia. No better selection could have been made. The college, its students past and present, and our Catholic community in this and other dioceses of New Zealand can never adequately repay the many obligations which they owe Brother Clement. Into their spiritual, temporal, and social life he unostentatiously entered, and upon all three he has left his mark. His sterling work shall ever remain with us. While heartily congratulating him on his

promotion, Ave part with him ;- regretfully. , Brother Clement leaves for : Sydney on May 31. : ">:.:; ■•■: The 11 o'clock Mass on-next Sunday at St. Benedict's will be celebrated for the repose of the souls of Catholics killed during the present war. > , t ' Rev. The annual diocesan collections in aid of the Maori Mission were inaugurated as far as the city and suburbs are concerned, at Remuera last Sunday. Very Rev.
