SUCCESSES OF CATHOLIC PUPILS 1 (From .an occasional correspondent.) At the West Coast musical and elocutionary competitions held at Greymouth from September 22 to 29, the pupils of; the Sisters of Mercy, Greymouth, scored remarkably well.. Miss Parkinson has won the gold medal (the ladies’ championship prize). Miss Phyllis ‘SmithShakespearian recitation, 1; humorous recitation, 1 ; musical monologue, 3 ; recitation, Ring out, wild bells,’ 3. ' Miss J Crowley—lmpromptu speech, 1; prepared reading, 2; sight reading, 3; recitation, ‘Ring out, wild bells,’ and Shakespearian recitation, highly commended. ■ Miss Gladys Williams—Ladies’ recitation (under 21), 1; sight reading, 2. : - Miss -Doris.
