The Very Rev. Father Roche, C.SS.R., returned to Wellington on Tuesday. Rev. Father Tuohey, C.SS.R., is engaged this week in Lawrence, where he is conducting a retreat for the Children of Mary. , On Wednesday, the ladies in charge of the St. Vincent de Paul stall at the bazaar held a gift evening in St. Joseph’s Hall, when a number of useful and ornamental articles were presented by friends. Among the children who will participate in the outing to Lawrence to-day, Daffodil Day, kindly and generously provided by Messrs. Simpson and Hart, will be a number from the St. Vincent de Paul Orphanage, South Dunedin. , The devotion of the Forty Hours’ Adoration will commence at St. Patrick’s Basilica, South Dunedin, on Friday morning, when a Mism Cantata will be celebrated at 7 o’clock. Mass will also be celebrated on Saturday morning, and there will be Solemn High Mass at 11 o’clock on Sunday, when the sermon will be preached by Rev. Father Buckley, Rev. Father Coffey, Adm., will preach on Sunday evening. The devotion of the Forty Hours’ Adoration began in St. Joseph’s Cathedral on Friday morning with the celebration of Solemn High Mass at nine o’clock, at which his Lordship Bishop Verdon presided. Rev. Father Buckley was celebrant, Rev. Father Corcoran deacon, Rev. Father Kavanagh subdeacon, and Rev. Father Coffey, Adm., master of ceremonies. In the evening there were devotions, sermon by the Rev. Father Coffey, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacra-

menfc. On Saturday morning' the Missa Pro Pace was celebrated by Rev. Father Buckley, and in the evening there was Benediction;of the Blessed Sacrament. His Lordship the Bishop presided at Solemn High Mass at eleven o'clock on Sunday. Rev. "Father Buckley was celebrant, Rev. Father. Kavanagh deacon, Rev. B. Kaveney (Holy Cross College) • subdeacon, and Rev. Father Corcoran master of ceremonies. The occasional discourse was preached by the Very Rev. Father Roche, C.SS.R., who also preached at Vespers. In the evening after Vespers there was a procession of the Blessed Sacrament in which the parish sodalities took part. The ceremonies were brought to a close with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. At three o'clock on Sunday afternoon the usual procession in -connection with the Feast of the Holy Rosary took place from St. Joseph's School to the Cathedral. The procession left the school in the following order: Altar boys, pupils of the Christian Brothers' School, students of St. Dominic's College, pupils of St. Joseph's School, and Children of Mary in regalia with their banners. The school children also carried banners. The procession was a pretty sight. On arriving- at the Cathedral the Rosary was recited. During the Forty Hours' Adoration large numbers approached the Holy Table, this being especially the case at the early Masses on Sunday.
