Before tho business was proceeded with at the meeting of the Borough Council on Friday night tho Mayor said it was only right that the Council should take notice of the death of ex-Councillor Cagney, who had passed away since the last meeting. Mr. Cagney had taken an active part in public affairs, and it was only right that they should place on record the good service he had rendered while a member of the Council, He moved that the Council express its regret at the death of Mr. Cagney, and its sympathy with the family in their bereavement. The motion was carried. At the theory examination held in June last under the auspices of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and Royal College of Music, Rita Falconer (a pupil of the Dominican Nuns) was a successful candidate ,in the rudiments division, gaining 93 marks.
