Hamilton
(From an occasional correspondent.) June 14. On Friday, June 6, another successful social was held under the auspices of the Catholic Young Men’s Club. A nice supper was supplied by the lady friends of the club. The proposal by the Catholic Young Men’s Club to add another class-room to the Convent School is meeting with good financial support, and already a substantial amount has been collected for this purpose. At a meeting of the club held on the Bth inst., it was decided to canvass the parish, and during the week those who have been approached have promised assistance. . • A mock parliamentary election was the programme at the Young Men’s Club meeting on June 13. Mr. E. de V. McGarrigle was in the chair. The speakers were Messrs. C. Lafferty (Prohibition and bare majority), M. O’Leary (Opposition), M. McCarthy (Labor), and I. Lynch (Government). There were about fifty present, including a number of ladies. The speakers all received a very attentive hearing, and at the subsequent poll, Mr. McCarthy was returned by a substantial majority.
