Ronald Stewart Testimonial Fund

'Dear Sir, —We desire to bring under the notice of your readers the appeal which has been made by the Bishop of Sale on belialf of Mr. Ronald Stewart, who has been for many years an active worker in the field of Catholic journalism. Many of your readers will doubtless have some acquaintance with his brilliant writings, but most of his work has been done anonymously, in the appeal made by Bishop Phelan, he writes: —"For over a dozen years Mr. Stewart has poured into many vehicles of Catholic thought a strong current, which has materially helped to guide and brace our people in the perpetual warfare Catholics must ever wage for truth and justice." Although only in the prime of life, Mr. Stewart has been stricken by a grievous and incurable disease, and calmly awaits the end in a spirit of peaceful resignation. A wife and eight young children (the eldest being under 16 years of age) need to be provided for, and we earnestly appeal to the Catholic people of Australasia to assist in making provision for the family of one who has rendered noble and unstinted service in the cause of Catholicity. ' We would be grateful if you, Sir, would be good enough to receive subscriptions towards the fund, or amounts can be remitted to the hon. secretary of the committee, Mr. T. J. O'Brien, Catholic Federation Offices, 98 Elizabeth street, Melbourne. 'Thanking you in anticipation for your assistance in this deserving cause, Yours faithfully, 'A. L. Kenny (chairman), 'Joseph Winter, (treasurer), 1 T. J. O'Brien (hon. secretary). ' 98 Elizabeth street, Melbourne. 'March 28, 1913.' [We will be pleased to take charge of any subscriptions that may be forwarded to us for so deserving a cause.— N.Z.TA
