An accused, with many previous convictions, came before the Napier Court, and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Accused: ‘ Well, tend me to Auckland or Wellington Gaol; I don’t like Napier Gaol.’ The Magistrate; ‘l’m afraid you’ll have to go there. We don’t give excursion trips, you know.’
