Recently a. patient in the Oamaru Hospital (says the North Otago Times) underwent an operation of a peculiar character Some time ago a swelling appeared in the side of the patient, which continued to increase in size and painf ulness. An operation " was performed .in the hospital, and pai't of a long and much corroded needle ■was extracted. The patient had no knowledge of how the needle got theTe, how long it had been there, and how it had worked to the place from whence it was extracted. All the patient had^any distinct knowledge of is the decided relief that was afforded when it was extracted.
