(From Our Own Correspondent.) Two liiglily respected parishioners passed away during the last week — Mrs. Hepburn, and Mr. Slattery, sen., of Manaia. — R.I.P. During the past few weeks Very Hey. Father Power has been making a special collection for the purpose of liquidating the parish debt arid enlarging the church. So far the, results have been very gratifying; and already the sum of £200 has been collected. Miss D. Rielly, who has been indisposed for some weeks now, has been ordered a change and rest by. her doctor, and leaves at the beginning of April on a trip to the Old Country with _ her father. Miss Rielly will' bo much -missed in musical circles in Haver a. Although the local branch . of the Hibernian Society ' has been only three years in existence, it is making wonderful progress. It has now . oyor • £100 to its credit, and at_ the last meeting six candidates were Dominated ' for membership. ' - ,^ > -'■ Mr. P. O'Doa, who xuitil recently was, Jhe.ad master of the Patea High School, has started practice as-.a barrister and solicitor in Hawera. We now have three Catholic solicitors in Hawera — Mr., G. H. Regan, Mr. B. McCarthy, and Mr. P. O'Dea. On Wednesday evening, -last the local .branch of the - Hibernian . Society held its second .annual concert*, in the Opera House. The fallowing contributed to ".the programme: — Mrs. Sutcliffe (Wellington), Mrs. J. Goodson, Mrs. Quin, Misses O'Doiinell (2)^ Flyhn, O'Reilly, A. Gallagher, arid .-Messrs." Hutchens, ' Lawless, " Hooker, and M. McAlpino/ The' concert was a ".thorough, success.
