(From Our Own Correspondent.)

October

The devotion of the Forty Hours' Adoration commenced at St. Patrick's Basilica on Saturday morning, and concluded last night.

The usual weekly meting of the Catholic Club was held on Friday evening, Mr. T. O'Grady (president) being in the chair. It was intended to ha\e a debate on the question, ' Was England justified in forming an alliance with Japan?', but owing to the inability of some of the intending speakers to be present, the evening was devoted to a general discussion on the subject. The Rev. Father O'Neill and Mr. F. Mulvihill delivered stirring addresses criticising the Home Government's action, and were heartily applauded. The chairman spoke from the opposite standpoint, taut the feeling of the meeting was strongly in favor of the negative side of the question.
