WEDDING BELLS
McHUGH— KEAN.
At the residence of Mr. James Kean, South Hiltend, a wedding of an interesting nature was celebrated on Tuesday morning, September 8, the contracting, parties being Miss Sara Kean, second daughter of Mr. James Kean, South Hillend, and Mr. David McHugh also a resident of the same district. The Rev. Father O'Neill, of Winton, officiated, .and Miss M. Kean attended her sister as bridesmaid, while Mr. James' Kean, jun., acted as best man. The bride, who -was given away by her father, looked charming in a dress of cream silk. The bridegroom's present to "the bride was a beautiful gold bangle .studded with rubies, and diamonds^ and his gift to the bridesmaid was a gbl.l brooch set with diamonds. The wedding presents were of a useful and ornamental character, and their number showed the esteem in which the newly-married couple are held by a large circle of friends. By the evening train the happy couple left for the north, where the honeymoon is to be spent.
The St. Joseph's Harriers' Five-mile ' Cross-cou-ntry Championship Race was held on Saturday afternoon*at Wakari. The trail went in the direction of the Taien, and comprised a lot of rough and hilly country and proved- a very trying test on the runners. 7 \t io J} ovfm S is the result of the race-— J. V. Quelch 1, ,J. Swanson 2, P. Gorman 3. A sealed handicap run in connection with the race re-sulted-m a win for J. Cowan ( 3 min 3 osec), J. V. Quelch (losec) being second. The officials were Messrs. T. Deehan (judge), Miller, Heleyfand Kilmartin (timekeepers), and J. B. Callan (handicapper). JT--Mr. J.
