DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs. Wrfght, Stephenson, and Co. report-as follows:—
For Saturday's sale we had a medium entry of mixed horses. The attendance of the public from both town and country was good, and in consequence the tone of the market was very healthy, all our country consignments changing hands under the hammer at satisfactory prices. Of the draughts forward there were none of more than average quality, and the prices realised were, therefore, not high, yet, considering the class, they were very good— viz., up to 10s. A nice order-cart gelding from Lovell's Flat found a now owner at £24. The light harness sorts forward were a poor lot, and in this section business was very limited. Most vendors are keeping back their surplus horses for our annual spring sale (which takes place on August 14), and not many sound young draught geldings are coming forward to ihe weekly auction. We quote :
Superior young draught geldings, at from to £50 ■ extra good ditto (prize-winners), at from £ 5 o to £ 5S ; superior young draught mares, at from £ 5 o to medium draught mares and geldings, at from £30 to ; aged ditto, at from £i 5i 5 to £20; well-matched carriage pairs, at from £ 7 o to £100; strong spring-van horses, at from to milk-cart and butchers' order-cart horses, at from to ; light hacks, at from £* to £13; extra good hacks and harness horses, at from £13 to £25 ; weedy and good ditto, at from £$ to £7.
