OBITUARY
MR. J. W. FORDE, INVERCARGILL,
There passed away at his residence, Leet street, on rinirsday, a, \ery old resident in the person of Mr. -I. W. Loide. The deceased" (writes our Invercargill correspondent), v,ho was 66 years of age, arrived from Gal way at For I Chalmers in 1881. He eventual1} came to Southland, and engaged in contracting. Hawng acquired a competence, he retired from active woik in 1387, since when he has resided in Invercargill, whole lie was well known and much esteemed. He had always taken a great interest in Church matters. The deceased is survived by his widow, and lea\e<Mi\e brothers— Messrs. T. W. Forde (Drummond) P. Ford (Tc Tua), M. Forde (West Plains) L. Forde (In\creargill), and another brother in Ireland, and one sister, Airs. T. C. Forde. The funeral, which took place on Saturday, was an exceptionally large one, testifying to the regard in which deceased was held Aloi-incis weie j.resenL irom all parts of Southland. 'I he \uy Uev.
