MAKING SURE
A certain young gentleman, an amateur sportsman, went to the Highlands for a ' shoot.' One day, with rather a white face, he called the keeper " to him, ■ and said : '• I say, keeper, are all your beaters here ? Do you mind counting them ? ' ■• Verra weel, sir,' replied the keeper, and whistled to Ms mien.' ' Yes, they're all here,' he continued, after counting them. '*' Are you quite sure ? ' said the sportsman, anxiously. : Yes sir. Ah'm certain.' The s gentleman heaved a sigh ■of relief. ' All .right,' sai <* he J c th©n behind that rook dowij, there you'll find a dead ro*buck ! .'
