The Sistfers of Mexcy, South Dun-edioa, desire .to return tfeeir sincere thanks to many friends in town and country who have forwarded donations of. clothes and. fruit for the orphans— gifts, of both being always very acceptable. The Sisters would be very pleased to supply cases for fruit to country friends who have a surplus of such, and who are desirous of presenting it to the orphanage.

St. Joseph's Gymnastic Class was opened on Monday evening, when there was a large attendance, including several new members. A new punching-ball, kindly donated by Mr. J.- Kilmartin, has been added to the apparatus, and several repairs and . additions have been carried oit by Messrs. W. Butler, Jos. Swanson, and A. Powell, which make, the gymnasium in point of equipment e.iual to any in =Dunedin. The m©n>bers are all enithiusiastic, and the coming season promises to be highly successful.

The annual meeting of St. Joseph's Boys' Club was held in St. Joseph's Hall. -on Monday evening". The Rev. Father Corcoran presided, and there was a good attendance. The following office-bearers were elected for the enduing year-: — Patron, Right/ Rev. Dr. Verdon ; president, Rev. Father Corcoran ; committee, Masters Geo. Lowell, F. Power, E. Wilkie, and R. Fogarty ; secretary, Master Jno. Dunne. The first meeting of the season will be held on next Monday evening.

• A meeting of the members of St. Joseph's Men's Club was held in St. Joseph's Hall, on Tuesday evening for the purpose of forming a (Hee Club. Mr. Deehan presided, and there was a good attendance. A large number handed in their names as active members, and the club commences with every prospect of success. The following office-bearers were elected : — Conductor, Mr. T. Deehan ; musical director, Mr. F. I-leley ; committee, Messrs. Jos. Swanson, T. Hughes, and E. W. Spain. The club meets on Tuesday evenings at 8 o'clock.

The opening run of the St. Joseph's Harriers was held on Saturday afternoon from the residence of the Hon. J. B. Callan, M.L.C., the club's president. The day was beautiful, and attracted a m.uster of 20, ii>cluding several new members. The trail went through the Kaikorai and around the surrounding hills for about five miles, and then home through Roslyn. The runners were hospitably entertained by_ Mr. and Mrs. Callan. Mr. Deehan (vice-president; expressed tiie club's appreciation of the kindness shown by the host and hostess.

The St. Patrick's Young Men's Club, South Dunedin, held the iirst meeting for the present season on Mand'ay evening, when there was a good attend amoe. The president, Rev. Father Howard, during the ' course of his address, complimented the m'emibiers on, haning had a successful season last year, aoid trusted thlat they would, have oven a better one this year. He also thanked members for taking an active interest in the affairs of. the club, and emphasised the necessity of all working zealously and harmoniously so as to ensure its success. The secretary read the rules, and intimated that the meetings would be held on-Monday in each week, and would commence at 7.15 p.m. The memtaership fees for the current year are as follow : Is far members attending school, 2s for members who are in employment, and 5s for honorary members. The club has made arrangements to open a gymnastic class ' on May 5, and thereafter to hold the class on Tuesday evening in each week. The' cluib is indebted to Mr. J. Dee for having offered his services as, instructor. During the evening musical items were given by Messrs. Meekin, Perkins, Atwell, McLean,, Ahem, Marlow, and Tonar.
