He was greeted with a stprm of applause at each of his appearances on the stage. The Irish Rifles, which are now being resuscitated, were, made the subject ol' the Very Rev. De\a Grogan's and- Rev. Father Mahony's- remarks at the difier- • ent Masses last Sunday, when they appealed, to Catholic young men of the district to become members of the local Irish Rifles Volunteer Corps, which was the only one now existing in the Dominion. They urged the parents to recommend their sons to join this corps in preference to" other local ..bodies of volunteers, thus making it as it should be a purely Catholic corps.
