Wellington, November 25. — The High Commissioner's cablegram, dated London, 23rd inst., reads thus :—: — - The mutton market is- quiet. Holders are firm, and there is a better demand for mutton for forward delivery, with general confidence in the maintenance of present prices. Quotations : Canterbury mutton, 3|d ; North Island, 3fd. Lamb.— The market is a shade weaker and the • demand is falling off. Canterbury lamb, sfd ; other than. Canterbury, sid. The beef market is quiet and rather steadier. Hindquarters, 3£d ; forequarters, 2§d. The butter market" shows an improved demand. Good inquiry is expected until Christmas. Choicest New Zealand butter, 118s per cwt ; Australian, 117s ; Argentine, 118s ; Danish, 122s ;* Siberian, 110s. Cheese..— The market is quiet, with a tendency jn favor of buyers. Canadian manufadnire, 62s per cwt. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet. "Holders are firm. Light stocks are on hand, and there is no pressure to sell. Bright, clean, 17ft seed, £75 per ton.
