UNITED STATES—A Venerable Bishop
The death is announced from Boston, U.S.A., on August 31, of the Most Reverend John Joseph Williams, Arcßbishop- of that city since 1875, where he" was born in , 1822, and also Dean of the American Hierarchy. After having graduated at -the College of Montreal in 1841, He took his theological course at the Seminary of Saint-Sulpice, in Paris, where he was ordained in 1845. On his return to the United States he began his pastorate in his native city, and remained there until the time ol his death.
