A Question of Creed
"X Wellington inquirer writes : f To. settle a dispute, will you kindly state in the " Tablet " "to what religion M. Clemenceau., the French Premier, belongs 3. ' The answer is soon given : He belongs to none and dislikes all. Here are some particulars- in point from the April number of the ' Nineteenth Century and After ' :—
' M. Clemenceau is the son of a Vendean doctor, who carried his hostility against religion so far thait (he never allowed his children to be christened. . . When George Clemenceau. arrived in Paris in 1862, to proceed with his medical studies, he -was already both a Revolutionist and an atheist. . . He hates Christianity, he hates Gocl.'
