The object of the Marißt Fathers in this country, as in their colleges in Europe and America, is to impart to their pupils a thoroughly Religious and a sound Literary education, which will enable them in after-life to discharge thair duties with honour to Religion and Society, and with oredt and advantage to themselves. Students are prepared for the N.Z. University Junior and Senior Civil Servioe,JMedical Entrance, Solicitors' General Knowledge, Bank and all other Public Examinations. Students not preparing for the learned Professions have the advantage of a Speoial Commercial Course, under effioient management, where they are taught all that will be of nee in mercantile pursuits. Speoial attention is also paid to the teaching of Physioal Soienoe, for which purpose the Colege possesses a large Laboratory and Demonstration Hall. Vocal Musio, Elocution, Drawing, and all other branoheß of a Liberal Education receive due attention. Physioal oulture is attended to by a oompetent Drill Instructor who trains the students three times a week in Drill, Rifle Praotioe, and Gymnastics. A large and well-equipped Gymnasium is attaohed to the College. The religious and moral training of the pupils is an object of speoial oare, and particular attention is bestowed on the teaching of Christian Doctrine. A well-appointed Infirmary attached to the College is under .the charge of the Sisters of Compassion, from whom in case of illness all students receive the most tender and devoted oare, and who at all times pay particular attention to the younger and more delicate pupils, who without such oare would find ther absence of home oomf orts very trying.
