The objeot of the Marist Fathers in this country, as in their colleges in Europe and America, is to impart to their pupils a thoroughly Religious and a sound Literary education, which will enable them in after-life to discharge their duties with honour to Religion &nd Society, and with oredt and advantage to themselves. Students are prepared for the N.Z. University Junior and Senior Civil Service, Medical Entrance, Solicitors' General Enowledge, Bank and all other Public Examinations. Students not preparing for the learned Professions have the advantage of a Special Commercial Course, under efficient management, where they are taught all that will be of use in mercantile pursuits. Speoial attention is also paid to the teaching of Physical Soience, for which purpose the Colege possesses a large Laboratory and Demonstration Hall. Vocal Mußio, Elocution, Drawing, and all other branches of a Liberal Education receive due attention. Physical culture is attended to by a competent Drill Instructor who trains the students three times a week in Drill, Rifle Praotioe, and Gymnastics. A large and well-equipped Gymnasium is attached to the College. The religious and moral training of the pupils is an objeot of Bpeoial oare, and particular attention is bestowed on the teaching of Christian Doctrine. A well-appointed Infirmary attached to the College is under the charge of the Sißtera of Compassion, from whom in case of illness all Btudents receive the moßt tender and devoted oare, and who »t all times pay particular attention to the' younger and more lelioate pupils, who without suoh oare would find the absence of home comforts very trying.
