(From an occasional correspondent.) ; January 31. Four pupils of the Convent of Mercy, Greymouth, . Misses Eileen Heaphy, . Mabel Dempsey, M. Kathleen Martin, and. Mary K. O'Donnell, were successful in the 'Civil , Service examinations. Two" of these candidates, Eileen Heaphy and Mabel JDempscy, have also matricu- - latefl. Owing to the death of the Inspector of the Grey Education Board, Mr. H. Smith, the school examina-
tions were held this year by Mr. E. A. Scolt, headmaster -of Taylorville School. Mr. Scott examined the Sixth Standard pupils of~ the Convent Schools,. Greymouth and Brunaer, last November. Fifteen pupils were presented, and • all obtained • proficiency certificates. The report, which is just to hand, is an ~ excellent one.
