Invercargill
(From our own correspondent.) October 5. On Tuesday evening of last week, the Invercargill Catholic Club held a mock trial by jury. The menbers of the St. Mary's (Ladies' Club) were present as well as a number of the congregation. The court busied itself in a breach of promise case, which was productive of much amusement. Mr. Scott, of Dunedin, kindly acted as judge, and contributed generously to the evening's amusement. Messrs. M. G-jlfedder and Jas. Robertson were counsel for plaintiff and defendant respectively. Others who took -'part were, Miss Burns, plaintiff ; - Mr. Morton, defendant ; Mr. Ryan, clerk ; Mr. McGoldrick, crier ; Messrs. Malier, Woods, Matlieson, Mulvey, (xallagfer, and Miss Hishpn, witnesses; Mr. J. Butler, foreman of jury. Preparations are being made by the St. Mary's Club for a. social, to be held shortly.
