(From our own correspondent.) , , October 8. Rev. Father Hoare from St. Mary's parish preached at the Cathedral on Sunday night on the Sacrifice of the Mass. A procession of the Blessed Sacrament followed. On Wednesday last a very successful bazaar was opened in Lincoln by Mrs. G-. Rhodes for the purpose of raising funds to defray the expenses of a Catholic presbytery which the Rev. Father Richards is builtiing in the parish.- There was a large and representative gathering on the occasion, the clergy from the neighboring tlis'tricts being much in evidence; aai<d city people went out in laige numbers to aid, and show their appreciation of, the popular pastor. The arrangements were complete in every respect. Much enthusiasm prevailed, and the results financially promise to be a great success. The sixth annual meeting of the Christchurch Catholic Club was held on September 25. Mr. J. ' R. Hayward, president, occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance. The annual report stated that a tennis club was started early in the year, and was supported enthusiastically. The balance sheet showed receipts £108 19s lid, expenditure £106 6s 2£d, balance £2 1,3s B£d ; assets, £116 4s 9d ; liabilities, £15 15s S^ti, balance of assets over liabilities, £100 9s s£d. The report and balance sheet were adopted. His Lordship Bishop Grimes and Sir George Clifford were reappointed to the position of patrons, and the Rev. Father 'Peoples to that of spiritual director. The election of officers resulted as follows -.—President, Mr C Laverty ; vice-presidents, Mr. D. Edmonds and" Mr R " McNamara ; treasurer, Mr. W. Hayward, jun. ; secretary, Mr. J. L. Leydon ; executive committee,' Messrs D. H. Bourke, T. F. O'Shea, T. Adams, P. McNamara, and E. Turkkigtoiu The meeting was then addressed by the Rev. Fathers O'Connell and Peoples The meeting adjourned for a week to consider a proposed alteration of the uules.
