(From our own correspondent.) > On" Saturday, August 25, the St. Mary's Catholic Chub's second fifteen played the Wanganui third fifteen / football and won by 13 points to 8. '"" • ' . - The Very Rev. Father Clune, C.SS.R.; concluded the retreat which he has been conducting for th.c past week in St. Mary's for the Children of Mary.* The. organ in St.- Mary's Church is now renovated and in- splendid working order, and we hope that 'in the near future a"n organ recital will be given so. as to show the parishioners what a splendid instrument they possess. Miss Murphy, was enthusiastically encored for both her items, whilst Miss M. Kennedy has never (been heard to greater advantage. Little Miss O'Brien recited very nicely the pathetic recitation "The foabfes in the wood, ' and Miss Laurant was well received for her pretty song. , Mrs. W." Price was heartily" applauded for her singing of '^The four-leaved clover.' A cleverly-danced sailor's hornpipe by Mr. C. Blake gained for him a well-merited encore. Mr. -George Swan gave two recitations, whilst the -comic songs of /Mr. H. V. Duigjan were received.
